SUMMARY:WiM Buddy System Members' Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Start 2026 on a high note by connecting with fellow Women in Media members in a welcoming\, supportive virtual environment. This is a members’ only event\, using the transparency of the WiM CrewList to make at least one to five new buddies. This interactive online networking event is designed to help you build meaningful relationships and expand your professional community. \n\n\n\nAfter our 30 second intros\, participants will be placed into small breakout groups\, creating an intimate setting for meeting potential collaborators and to make new friends. After the event\, we will furnish all participants with a contact sheet so that you may meet with your buddy/s for coffee\, lunch\, or virtually for ongoing relationship building. You can check in regularly with each other beyond the meeting\, but that is entirely up to you. \n\n\n\nWe highly recommend that you reach out to folks in advance of the meeting via direct message. You can message them using the button on their CrewList profile. People will be checking you out\, so make sure that your profile is up to date and looking spiffy. SUMMARY:Framing the Future: Vertical + Full-Frame
DESCRIPTION:About Framing the Future\n\n\n\nCanon U.S.A. invites the Women in Media community for a one-day\, deep dive into shooting vertical video simultaneously with full frame. We will explore the new Canon C-50 camera\, which allows you to shoot both formats at the same time\, seamlessly.  \n\n\n\nFraming the Future is a limited admission\, hands-on seminar. This event will give you the basic tools to shoot cross-platform with this versatile camera. We encourage all departments to join us. We highly recommend this class for the camera department\, directors\, producers\, and data wranglers. This event has limited capacity\, and will sell out very quickly. \n\n\n\nThere will be networking\, brunch\, and an overview of the equipment before dividing into groups for the hands-on workshop. The purpose is to test the cameras\, and footage will not be for public consumption. If you would like to play with the footage after the event\, we would love learn about your workflow. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to record footage:\n\n\n\nThe C50 includes two different card slots—one CFexpress Type‑B and one SD card. Both slots support simultaneous recording even when shooting in raw codecs. All RAW 12‑bit recording options are stored to your inserted CFexpress card\, while smaller data‑rate formats as well as sub‑recordings and proxies record to your inserted SD card. \n\n\n\nAbout the Gear\n\n\n\nFeaturing a newly developed 7K full-frame CMOS sensor\, the Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera is a compact powerhouse for your video and photo needs. The EOS C50 is capable of recording 3:2 Open Gate video at either RAW 7K (up to 30fps) or XF‑HEVC‑S 4K (up to 30fps). Standard 16×9 Full Frame 12‑bit 7K RAW can be recorded up to 60fps\, with options to record Full Frame 4K up to 120fps. Simply select between dedicated photo and video modes for an intuitive hybrid shooting experience\, since the C50 is also capable of shooting 32‑megapixel stills. Additional advanced features of the C50 include Dual Pixel CMOS AF II\, simultaneous 2K or HD crop recording\, built‑in Frame.io Camera‑to‑Cloud integration\, and XC protocol support for remote control. An included detachable top handle equips you with two 3‑pin full-sized XLR inputs as well as onboard controls for easy-to-reach adjustments. \n\n\n\nAbout Our Lead Presenter\n\n\n\nMatthew Irving currently serves as a Senior Technical Specialist for Canon U.S.A. During his 27 years as a professional cinematographer\, he has shot 38 feature films and a wide variety of short subjects in nearly every genre imaginable. His projeects include multiple Sundance Film Festival premieres and the “Top Ten” box office hits WAITING (starring Ryan Reynolds and Justin Long) and WAITRESS (starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion).
